My Trekking Passion – How it all began
My Trekking Passion – How it all began
A personal reflection on how childhood memories in the hills sparked a lifelong love for trekking — not to conquer peaks, but to reconnect with nature, find peace, and relive the joy of mountain trails.
Finding Peace in the Mountains: The Beginning of My Trekking Journey
I realized that I felt at home whenever I was in the hilly terrain and probably this was due to having spent a decade in the mountains during my early years. So, in the recent years, I started taking time out for myself to spend time in lap of the mountains which I missed so much. Hiking & trekking was not so new to me as I had done hikes and short treks in the mountains during school life, of course only the trails around Darjeeling and Mussoorie.
I did not want to conquer peaks or set records but just wanted to explore the remote and interior areas of the great Himalayan ranges, feel at home, unwind, de-stress, detox, find peace and interact with like-minded people and local residents.
During my teens, we had done so many small hikes & trails including some known ones like Kurseong-Balasun River, Sandakphu-Phalut, Darjeeling-Tonglu, Nag Tibba, Lal Tibba. A couple of them were slightly difficult in terms of steep trails, but during your teens you have a lot of energy and in a group of teenagers, it all becomes easy.
